Lynette
Totten
April 23, 2025
Lynette Green Totten, 91, of Butner, NC passed away Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at Hillcrest Convalescent Center in Durham.
Lynette was born on September 11, 1933, in Granville County to the late Willie Lee Green and Ellie Haskins Green Fowler. She was a member of the Methodist Church. Lynette was a pioneer as a female salesperson for Betty Benson Candies in her younger years and later married her husband, Jack. Jack and Lynette transitioned into Owners and Operators of Gregson Street Antiques prior to retiring. Lynette loved to spend time visiting and going out with friends and family, meeting the cousins for dinner, gathering with neighbors, and shopping. She was a great storyteller and could entertain you for hours with her stories of adventures with her Aunt Lib and Mother, her huge dog (Kiev) and small dog (Pooh). She also had the gift of charm with friends, strangers and even her doctors during her last few years. Although she did not have any children, she loved every child she met and thought they were miracles.
Lynette was preceded in death by her husband, John A. Totten, her parents, Willie Lee Green and Ellie Haskins Green Fowler. Left to cherish her memories are special cousins, Amy Haskins Garrard (William), Diane Wells (Michael), Carolyn Fort, the Green cousins Bobby (Sondra) and Sue, stepchildren, Johnna Totten Forrester, Melinda Totten Crowder, Victoria Totten Gillett, and Jay Totten, 7 step-grandchildren and 10 step-great grandchildren, and many special friends and neighbors.
The family would like to thank the wonderful staff members at Hillcrest Convalescent Center, especially, family member (Carly Carver), for their support during the last few weeks. Funeral services will be graveside at the Old Cemetery in Creedmoor on Sunday, April 27th at 3:00 pm with Rev Ben Rouse officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to PBS North Carolina Foundation, PO Box 12231, Research Triangle Park, NC 27709-2231.
