Margaret Bullock Matthews, 93, of Oxford, N.C. passed away Thursday, April 3, 2025.
Born in Vance County, she was the daughter of the late Louise Hope Bullock and John Wesley Bullock. She was the widow of Leonard Ray Matthews.
She was a member of Island Creek Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, April 6, 2025, at 2:00 p.m., at Island Creek Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Johnny Yount. Burial will be in the Royster Family Cemetery in Bullock.
Surviving is one daughter, Becky Claiborne (Frank); two grandsons, Chris Claiborne (Kelly) and Derek Claiborne (Elizabeth); three special great-grandchildren, Cecily Claiborne, Judd Claiborne, and Cade Claiborne; one brother, J.W. Bullock (Janice); along with several nieces and nephews and extended family members. The family would like to say a special "Thank You" to her caregivers, Betty Kersey, Charlotte Hawthorne, and Brenda Keeter and to the staff of The Bridges on Parkview and to all her friends there. Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by, three sisters, Frances Pegram, Edith Fleming, and Dorothy Keeton.
The family will receive friends immediately following the church service in the fellowship hall of the church.
Serving as pall bearers will be Donnie Bullock, Todd Adcock, Brad Cooper, Carl Fisher, Bryan Claiborne, and Scott Denny. Honorary pall bearers will be Wayne Pegram, Marvin Keeton, Gene Vaughan, Randy Matthews, and Jimmy Twisdale.
