Margie Catlett Grissom, 85, of Laurel Park, NC and formerly of Henderson, passed away Monday, March 16, 2026, at Elizabeth House Hospice.

Born in Vance County, she was the daughter of the late Frank Catlett and Bessie Story Catlett. She was the widow of Grover Eppy Grissom Jr.

Margie retired from Carolina Telephone / Sprint in 1988 after thirty years of service.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, March 21, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Sossamon Funeral Home in Henderson. Conducted by Rev. Frank Sossamon. Interment will follow at Sunset Gardens.

Survivors include four nieces, Gail Weldon (Dean), Jane Pernell, Ann Ayscue and Jean Curles (Ray); two nephews, Butch Clopton and Dan Pernell (Mary); her beloved cat, Kristi; as well as many other extended family members. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Edna Pearce, Thelma Clopton and Marie Peacock; two brothers, Hartwell Davidson and Arnold Davidson; and a sister-in-law, Hilda Grissom Pernell.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to her caregivers, Editha Justice, Rachel Brown and Paul Jenks for the compassionate care that you gave Margie.

Serving as pallbearers will be Dan Pernell, Jason Pernell, Jordan Thomas, Garth Stewart, Dean Weldon and Abraham Satterwhite.

In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorials be made to Parkinsons Support Group of Asheville, 825 C Merrimon Ave, #327, Asheville, NC 28804 or a charity of one's choice.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m.
