Marian Jeannette Flowers Self Wilkerson of Creedmoor, NC passed from this world and joined the Heavenly Choir to praise her Lord and Savior on Saturday, December 2, 2023. She was born in Knightdale, NC on October 4, 1932 to Leslie F. Flowers, Sr. and Frances Flowers.  Marian graduated from Knightdale High School and trained in voice and piano. She shared her talents and love for music  from the age of 14 by singing in many weddings and funerals. Marian was a devoted choir director. She directed the choir at Knightdale Baptist Church. She was also a gifted teacher of children. She started, directed, and taught private kindergartens at Knightdale Baptist church and later at Macedonia Baptist church in Cary,  N. C.Marian's  passion for sharing music continued as she directed the Mountain Creek Baptist Church choir for approximately 28 years.  She also directed the Golden Cords Flat River Associational Choir and the Joy Singers Creedmoor Community Choir. Marian enjoyed helping her husband, Herman, as he drove the church bus on approximately  100 trips for the church senior citizens for about 10 years.She loved worshiping and serving with her church family.  Marian is preceded in death by her parents, L.E. Flowers, Sr. and Frances Flowers. Her first husband Joseph Blake Self, and her brother L.E. Flowers, Jr.
She has poured love, fun memories, and humor into those she leaves behind: Her devoted husband, Herman Bailey Wilkerson, daughter, Rhonda Self Martin (Dann) and their 3 children, Michael Martin (Sara), Blake Martin (Allie), Chelsea Martin Lee (Jim),Herman's son, Eugene Wilkerson (Traci) and their 2 children, Olivia Wilkerson and Evan Wllkerson.
Marian has been blessed with 9 great-grandchildren to adore and love: Elizabeth Martin, Hailey Martin, Emma Martin, Aubrey Lawhorn, Abby Lawhorn, Sadie Lee,  Maren Lee , Atlas Martin and Finn Martin.
VIsitation will be Monday, December 4, 2023 at 6:00 -7:30 at Sossaman Funeral Home in Oxford, NC. A celebration funeral service will be Tuesday, December 5, 2023  at 2:00 at Mountain Creek Baptist Church in Oxford, North Carolina.
