Marie Brown Stallings

Marie Stallings, 76, a loving devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother,
sister and friend of many, passed away Thursday, January 25, 2024, at Duke University
Hospital in Durham, NC.

Born in Lee County, she was the wife of James Thomas Stallings for 61 years and daughter
to the late Hubert Edward Brown and Marie Moore Brown. Marie was one of nine siblings.
Marie, worked for GTE/Verizon in Durham and retired after 30 years in Supply/Logistic as a
Warehouse Manager. After retirement Marie moved from Durham to Manson on Kerr Lake
where she learned to love boat rides and sunsets. Those who followed her on
Facebook know that family, friends, and sunsets were her life.

Marie, known as Tootsie to her family and close friends, was the kindest loving person that
made a mark on everyone she encountered. Her love was contagious and even if you were
a friend, you were family to her. She was always the life of the party. She held a special role
not only in the lives of her family but also with special friends in which she was the
matriarch and glue that kept everyone together. Her passing has left an immense
emptiness in the hearts of many.

She is survived by her husband; Jimmy, one son; Tommy Stallings (Terri), her daughter
and best friend; Tina Blevins (Steve), two grandchildren; Nicholas Stallings, Ethan Blevins
(Bryson), her heart, great-grandson; Nash Blevins, and soon-to-be born greatgranddaughter; Connelly-Jo Blevins, four sisters; Ella Payne (Howard), Melinda Wills (Mack), Wanda Frick (Bill), Robyn Brown, two brothers; Steve Brown (Sherry), Howard
Brown (Julie), along with many nieces, nephews, extended family and her beloved pet, at
times, Max. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother; Coy Brown and one
sister; Terry Brown.

Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, February 1, 2024, at Liberty Baptist Church
(3864 Guess Road, Durham, NC 27705), at 1:00 p.m. Visitation following the service.

A second memorial will be held in Marie's home church Middleburg Methodist Church,
( 155 Walnut Street Middleburg, NC 27556) on Saturday, February 3, 2024, at 3:00 p.m.
