Maude Marilyn "Susie" Carter, 81, of Creedmoor, passed away Friday, March 20, 2026, at Duke Regional Hospital.

Born in Orange County on February 7, 1945, she was the youngest child of the late Louis Linwood Wrenn and Gladys Varner Wrenn.

Susie grew up in Orange County and later moved to Granville County. She retired from Bell South after many years and spent her retirement working as a substitute teacher in Granville County Schools. She especially enjoyed working with EC students.

Immediate survivors include one daughter, Lisa Lyons (Otis), six grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Wendy Griffin (John); seven brothers, Gilmore, Bill, Carl, Toby, Henry "Toot", Gene, and Ollie and two sisters, Ellen and Dessie.

Susie will be remembered for her kindness, humor, and unwavering love for her family.
