It is with the deepest sadness that we announce the death of Mark Steven Smith, born September 10th,1955 in Johnson City, NY, who passed away on Saturday, February 25th at the age of 67.
Mark is so very lovingly survived by his wife, Jennifer Smith, Creedmoor, NC; sister, Jennifer Smith, Owego, NY; brothers Peter (and Diane) Smith, Kernersville, NC and Craig (and Anne) Smith, Littleton, CO; daughter Trinity Smith, and sons Nathan Vasick and Joseph (and Hunter) Vasick.
He is also survived by his grandson Owen, with whom he had a very special bond, as well as his grandchildren Todd and Bailey.
Mark was pre-deceased by both of his parents, Donald L. and Doris L. Smith, whom he missed very much.
Mark was so proud to have begun and grown his and Jennifer's business, Precision Bluing, to the point of it being a nationally-known company. He was proud to say that he blued guns belonging to some very well-known people and companies.
Mark's sister, Jenny Smith, is devasted by this loss, but is comforted by a lifetime of wonderful memories; countless laughs, especially with Mark's quick wit and puns, his love and wonder of all wild and domestic animals. Sibling teasing as children grew to strong bonds into adulthood with long conversations offering support, love and devotion. Mark lived life to its fullest from a young age full of adventure and music. Jenny recalls swooning teenage girls asking for Mark's autograph from her rockstar brother.
Jenny admires him for the courage and strength he showed in later years, and is so very thankful he is no longer in pain. He loved deeply, was extremely sentimental, devoted, honest and full of integrity. He is now in the loving arms of our parents, grandparents, and numerous beloved lost pets. Life without him will not be the same, but we will be together again one day.
Mark was the best example of a human being God could have possibly placed on this Earth. He truly loved everyone and every creature he ever came into contact with. He forever taught that the only thing you take to the grave is your honour. No one had more than he.
To say he will be deeply missed is so lacking. The intensity of his absence is unbearable. I was exceedingly blessed to have been able to have been this man's wife and friend for the past twenty-four years. I desperately wish I could have twenty-four more.
He was an extraordinary man.
