Martha "Betsy" L. Barnes

Martha Elizabeth "Betsy" Lifsey Barnes, 93, of Henderson, NC, passed away Sunday, April 24, 2022, at Kerr Lake Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Born in Warren County, she was the daughter of the late William Kee Lifsey, and Margaret Thomas Casserley.

Mrs. Barnes was retired from Maria Parham Hospital, where she worked in Labor and Delivery and was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Henderson. She was also a member of the Vance County Visually Impaired Group.

Surviving are one daughter Lou Ellen Edwards; one son, Thomas Michael Barnes; three grandchildren, Norman Edwards, Elizabeth Edwards, and Jonathan Barnes (Dara); and two great-grandchildren, Liam Barnes, and Reese Barnes. Alongside her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Carl Barnes; two sisters, Caroline Edwards, and Mary Lawson; and one brother, Billy Lifsey.

A funeral service will be held Tuesday, April 26, 2022, at 2:00 p.m., at the Sossamon Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Will Breedlove. Interment will immediately follow the service at Sunset Gardens.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, April 26, 2022, from 1-2:00 p.m. at Sossamon Funeral Home.

Serving as pallbearers will be Troy Sealy, Larry Matthews, Jonathan Barnes, Norman Edwards, Ted Williams, and Frank Asencio.
