Mary Helen Miles Blackwell 77, of Oxford, NC, passed away Friday, December 22, 2023, at her home.
Born in Mecklenburg County, VA, she was the daughter of the late Clarence Barrow Miles and Edna Vaughan Miles. She was the widow of Roy Charles Blackwell.
She was a long-time member of Mountain Creek Baptist Church.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday, December 27, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at Sossamon Funeral Home Chapel in Oxford. Conducted by the Rev. Zac Campbell. Interment will follow at Meadowview Memorial Park.
Survivors include three daughters, Cyndi E. Ayscue (Jeff), Jennifer B. Jones (Dale) and Michele B. Capps (Alan); ten grandchildren, Katie Ayscue, Remy Ayscue, Josh Ayscue, Charles Jones, Chelsea Jones, Hailey Jones, Nathan Jones, Kevin Capps, Chris Capps and Holly Capps; one sister, Carolyn M. Curl; and two nephews, Butch Marshburn and Jeff Miles. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her former husband, Robert "Bob" Edwards; one sister, Evelyn M. Marshburn; two brothers, Melvin Clarence Miles and Calvin Clinton Miles; and one nephew, Clarence Miles.
Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. At other times they will be at the home of Dale and Jennifer Jones.
Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to Mountain Creek Baptist Church.
