Mary Lou Gentry Brogden, 62, a lifelong resident of Granville County, passed away Saturday, June 8, 2024, at Duke University Hospital after a long battle with cancer.
Born in Granville County on October 16, 1961, she was the daughter of the late K.D. Gentry and Pauline Jacobs Gentry.
Mary Lou was a member of Tally Ho First Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School, Bible School and Awana for many years. She was employed at First Baptist Church of Butner. Mary Lou had a love for life, the beach and Disney World in Florida. She loved spending time with her husband, children and grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held Monday, June 17, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Butner. Pastor Jim Shelley and Rev. Blaine Britt will officiate.
Survivors include her husband, Larry Brogden; two sons, Jeremy Brogden and Kevin Brogden (Karla); a daughter, Mandy Brogden Davis (Ray); five grandchildren, Joseph Brogden, Kamaron Brogden, Holden Davis, Logan Davis and Addilyn Davis; a sister-in-law, Teresa Jovich (Bronko); a brother-in-law, Danny Brogden (Norma); her beloved pets including two dogs, Buddy and Lucky and numerous friends and extended family members.
The family will receive friends Monday, June 17, 2024, from 1:00-2:00 p.m. in the Family Life Center at First Baptist Church of Butner.
