Mattie "Polly" Ann Riggan, 80, of Butner passed away Tuesday, September 17, 2024, peacefully at her home.

Born in Granville County, she was the daughter of the late Edward E. King and Meta Brogden.

Polly's unfaltering love, gentle guidance, and strength were a source of comfort and inspiration to all her family and friends. As we bid farewell to such a remarkable soul, let us all remember Polly's passion for cooking, her back porch gatherings, and her legacy of kindness.

Survivors include her son, Ray Madison Riggan, her grandson, Kyle Riggan (Laura) and her great-grandson, Tullis. Polly was predeceased by her husband of 42 years, Robert M. Riggan, and her four brothers, William "Uncle Bill" King, Robert Lee "Ned" King, Jacob King, and Buck King.

The family will receive family and friends Friday, September 20, 2024, from 5:00-6:00 p.m. at Sossamon Funeral Home of Creedmoor.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 21, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel of Sossamon Funeral Home of Creedmoor. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery in Oxford.

Pallbearers for the service will be Danny King, Ronnie King, Aaron Currin, Danny King Jr, Talon King, and Glenn Huber. Honorary pallbearer will be Joby Currin.
