Michael Ellington

Michael "Mike" Ellington 73, of Oxford, NC, passed away Thursday, May 15, 2025, at Granville Health System.

Born in Granville County, he was the son of the late Beatle Ellington and Nora Lee Roberts Ellington.

A funeral service will be held Monday, May 19, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. at Sossamon Funeral Home Chapel in Oxford. Conducted by the Rev. Terry Howard. Interment will follow at Meadowview Memorial Park.

Survivors include his wife of forty-seven years, June Clayton Ellington; one daughter, Courtney Brooke Ellington; three grandchildren, Dylan Michael Ellington, Ashton Michael Wilkins and Aubree Anne Ellington; three sisters, Shirley Adams, Becky Williamson and Sarah Barbour; two brothers, Ronnie Ellington and Butch Ellington (Wanda); two in-laws, Kim Price (Wade) and Lee Clayton (Sarah); and many nieces, nephews and other extended family members. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Clayton Michael Ellington; two sisters, Betty Lou Wilson and Julia Riddle; and two brothers, Charlie Pete Ellington and Kenneth Ellington.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. At other times, they will be at the home.

Serving as pallbearers will be Barney Smith, Pete Wilkinson, Ricky Newcomb, Steve Allison, Mike Sebastian and Jimmy Clark.
