Michael Dennis Meier, Sr., 75, of Wake Forest passed away Tuesday, March 3, 2026, at Durham VA Hospital.

Born on August 12, 1950, in Suffolk County, MA, he was the son of the late Louis Theodore Meier and Shirley Arnold Meier.

Michael proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1969 to 1986 serving first on active duty and later as a civilian. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) for many years. Above all else, he loved his family immensely. They were his greatest blessing and being called "Bompa" by his grandchildren and great grandchildren brought him so much joy.

The family will receive friends Saturday, March 7, 2026, from 12:30 to 2:00 p.m. at Sossamon Funeral Home in Creedmoor.

Survivors include his wife, Sally Dano Meier; two daughters, Catherine Meier Bays (John) and Laura Meier Curtis; one son, Michael Meier Jr. (Melissa); five grandchildren, Nicholas McNamara (Alex), Aislinn Colon (Raul), Brittany Brooks Zepher (Evan), Christian Curtis (Ally Fehr) and Oliver Grimstead; five great grandchildren, Ezekiel, Emmet, Kaison, Evelyn and Damian and one sister Cynthia Warnock. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Thomas Meier and Kevin Meier.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Durham VA Hospital, 2nd floor CLC 2 staff, especially Amber and Anna Marie for the exceptional care and compassion shown to Michael during his sickness.
