Mildred Currin Goss, beloved mother and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on August 31, 2025, at the age of 96, in Creedmoor, NC. She was born in 1929 in the Sassafras Fork township (Stovall, NC) to Roger and Cora Currin.
She is survived by her children, Jerry Goss and Karen Kimrey; her grandchildren, Tracy McLendon (Karl Dickerson) and Genie Parish (Chad) and one great grandchild, Kenzie Parish. She was preceded in death by her husband, E.B. Goss and one daughter, Sandra Aiken.
A proud North Carolinian, Mildred received the state's highest civilian honor, the Order of the Long Leaf Pine, in 2025 in recognition of her decades of extraordinary service to the state and its communities.
Mildred dedicated her life to her family and will be remembered for her strength and willingness to take charge. Some people leave a tremendous legacy through the groups where they work, play and contribute. Mildred was one of those people and she spent many years of her life doing family research work for various groups.
A special thank you to all the compassionate caregivers who provided love and support during her final days – Tracy McLendon, April Ransom, Camille Boyd, Tina Sorrells, Teresa Smoak and Beth Golub-Fromkin.
The family also wishes to express their sincere gratitude to all of you for your prayers, presence, love, telephone calls, visits and all other expressions of concern that you have shown during Mildred's battle with breast cancer.
A private family service will be held at a later date. She will be deeply missed.
