Nathaniel Thomas "Tommy" Buchanan Sr. 87, of Henderson, NC died Wednesday, October 23,2024, at Maria Parham Health.

Born in Vance County, he was the son of the late Pearl Wynn Buchanan and Nathaniel Owen Buchanan.

Mr. Buchanan was retired from Henderson Fruit and Produce where he was employed for fifty years and was a U.S. Army Veteran and was a member of Island Creek Baptist Church.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, October 26, 2024, 2 p.m., at Island Creek Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Johnny Yount.

Surviving is his wife of sixty-seven years, Gracie Watson Buchanan; a daughter, Christy L. Buchanan, two sons, Nathaniel Thomas Buchanan Jr. and Allan Dale Buchanan; two granddaughters, Sierra Yount Lewis (Paul) and Miranda Yount, and one great-granddaughter Abigail Lewis.  Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters; Rachel Breedlove and Hazel B. Ayscue.

The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service in the church Fellowship Hall. All other times, they will be at his home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Island Creek Baptist Church at 950 Stagecoach Road Henderson, NC 27537.
