Patricia Woodby Toone 72, of Oxford, NC, passed away Thursday, October 2, 2025, at Select Specialty Hospital in Durham.

Born in McDowell County, she was the daughter of the late Clyde John Woodby and Margie Faye Mills Woodby. She was the widow of Donnie Yancey Toone.

This incredible woman, affectionately known as Nanny, was the sunshine that brightened the lives of her seven grandchildren and the rock that supported her daughter. Her bright smile, quick wit, and generous heart, also touched the lives of many.

She may have left us, but her legacy of love, laughter, and devotion will live on in the hearts of her family. Her impact will be felt for generations to come.

The family will hold a memorial service at a later date.

Survivors include her daughter, Angela Toone Arteaga; son-n law Javier Arteaga; seven grandchildren, Ryan Toone, Emily Arteaga (Winston Renn), Kayleah Arteaga (Christopher Ayscue), Zoey Arteaga, Michael Arteaga, Brayden Arteaga and Eulalia Arteaga; one sister, Linda Nash; three brothers, Keith Woodby (Dianne); Thomas Woodby (Brenda); and Allen Woodby (Regina); as well as many nieces, nephews and other extended family members. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Michael Yancey Toone; one granddaughter, Hayley Laurynn Toone; and one sister, Margie Louise Woodby Ray.
