Obituary

Patricia "Anne" Gooch Winn, 72, of Stem passed away Friday, September 12, 2025, at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, MO.
Born in Granville County, Anne was the daughter of the late John and Rosa Lee Overton Gooch.
Anne, a loyal servant of God, dedicated her life to caring for others. After graduating from Hardbarger Junior College of Business, she served in several administrative professional positions for the State of North Carolina until her retirement. Yet, her true ministry flourished beyond her career, touching countless lives with her compassionate acts of kindness, including: hundreds of meals she prepared and delivered to those who suffered; hundreds of pounds of food she diligently placed in the Blessing Box for those experiencing food insecurity; decades of cherished holiday meals prepared for friends and family; hundreds of cards mailed to those who ached or grieved or were shut in due to the ravages of life and illness; a lifetime of joyful noise made in church choirs, including her home church Tally Ho First Baptist Church in Stem; and cookbooks written and published to ensure her family would always have the meals that nourish their souls.
Survivors include her loving husband of 42 years, Edward "Ed" Jones Winn Sr.; daughter, Pat Winn Peruso (David); son, Edward "Eddie" Winn Jr. (Marcia); grandchildren, Sarah Peruso, Alicia Peruso, Brenna Peruso, Stephanie Murray (Jonathan) and Becca Brittain (Ben); great grandchildren, Ava Murray and Liam Brittain; brother, John Walter Gooch (Becky); nieces, Amy Daniel (Brian) and Kelly Gooch; five great nieces and nephews, Emily Daniel, Matthew Daniel, Caleb Gooch, Jacob Gooch, and Kaitlyn Gooch and many friends and extended family members. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by nephew, John "Jay" Gooch Jr., who she cherished deeply.
Memorial services will be held Sunday, September 28, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. at Tally Ho First Baptist Church, located at 1692 Sanders Rd, Stem, NC 27581. Pastor Mike Craver will officiate. The family will provide dinner for all in attendance in the fellowship hall following the service.
