Patsy M. Clayton

Patsy Morris "Pat" Clayton 84, of Henderson, NC died Wednesday, July 17, 2019 at her home.

Born in Wake County, she was the daughter of the late Clarence Watson and Myrtice Morris Watson. Pat was raised by her late grandmother Mary Hobgood Morris of Oxford. She was the widow of the late Thomas Gray "Tommy" Clayton.

Mrs. Clayton was a nursing assistant at Dr. Walter Brodie Burwell's Office where she worked for thirty-five years, and later she retired from the former Maria Parham Hospital.  She was an avid UNC basketball fan.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 20, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church, conducted by Dr. Ron Cava.  Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery.

Surviving are a daughter, Meredith C. Harris (Bert), two sons, Patrick C. Clayton and Bernie C. Long (Valerie); four sisters, June Creech, Linda Bass, Celia Sasser and Sylvia Weeks; four grandchildren, Clayton Brodie Harris, Amanda Long, Justin Long and Cameron Long.  She was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Toler and a brother, Roger Watson.

Serving as pall bearers will be Cameron Long, Justin Long, Bradley Roberts, Gray Wilkerson, Mark Furr, Jordan Wilkerson and Frankie Nobles.

The family will receive friends Friday, from 6:30-8:00 p.m. at Sossamon Funeral Home.  All other times they will be at her home.
