Paul J Autrey, 89, of Creedmoor passed away Monday, February 2, 2026, peacefully at home.

He was born May 14, 1936, to George Autrey and Nellie Smith Autrey. He was raised in the mountains of Mitchell County, NC. His family moved to Granville County when he was a young man, where he spent the rest of his life.

Paul owned and operated Paul and Son Logging for 50 years. He enjoyed bluegrass music, loved tending his garden, fishing, but most of all he loved visiting and talking to family and friends.

He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Julia Self Autrey of the home. He is also survived by a son Dannie J Autrey (Brenda), a daughter Nita Tulloch all of Creedmoor; 5 grandchildren Tracy Hill (David), Jennifer Brinkley (Michael), Gayla Brogden (Brent), Jay Autrey (Stacy), Monica Elliott (Mark); 13 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by one sister, Kate Norwood of Durham, NC. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Nellie Smith Autrey, six brothers, four sisters, and son-in-law Chuck Tulloch.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 5, 2026, at 10:00 am at Sossamon Funeral Home in Creedmoor, NC with graveside service to follow at 11:00 am at Carolina Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Mark Autrey, Michael Brinkley, Mark Elliott, Lee Brogden, Hunter Brinkley, and David Hill II. Honorary Pallbearers will be Frankie Autry, Kody Brogden, and Cooper Schuckman.

He was a beloved husband, father, papa, friend and so much more. He will be missed beyond measure and remembered for a life well blessed.
