Peggy
Cox
September 28, 2025
Peggy Lou Tingen Cox, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend, transitioned peacefully from this life on September 28, 2025 at the age of 88.
Born on December 16, 1936 in Vance County, NC, Peggy was the cherished daughter of the late Abner Garrett Tingen, Sr. and Laura Mildred Keeton. She was the youngest surviving child of her parents, and grew up with a strong love for family, faith, and community that guided her throughout her life.
Peggy was preceded in death by her son, John Robert Cox, Jr. She is survived by her loving husband, John Robert Cox, married for 74 years. She is survived by her daughter, Deborah Cox Clark, son, Richard Allen Cox (Debby), and twin daughters Robin Suzette Cox Kozischek (Michael) and Roxann Susan Cox Satterfield (Michael), and one brother, David Candler Tingen (Grace), as well as many grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
A woman of deep faith, Peggy lived by example, showing kindness and generosity to everyone she met. She found joy in simple pleasures: gathering with family, tending to her home, sharing meals, and offering a listening ear or word of encouragement. Those who knew her will remember her warm smile, her gentle spirit, and her steadfast belief that love and light could see one through even the hardest days.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, October 4, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. At Marrows Chapel Church Cemetery. Conducted by Pastor Tom Lamm. The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall immediately following the service. At other times they will be at the home.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Marrows Chapel Church, c/o Marshall Tingen, 9034 McDuffie Rd, Oxford, NC 27565.
Peggy Lou Tingen Cox's life was a blessing, her memory a treasure, and her love will live on forever in the hearts of all who knew her.
