Peggy Nowell Fisher, 90, of Henderson, NC passed away Friday, June 13, 2025, at Maria Parham Health, with her three children by her side.
Born in Vance County, she was the daughter of the late Ethel Riggan Nowell and Hubert Rancher Nowell.  She was the widow of Harold Bennett Fisher.
She was a member of the former City Road United Methodist Church where she served as a youth Sunday School Teacher for many years. A retired employee of Roses Stores with over fifty years of service; she began at Store #1 in 1953 as a waitress and was later promoted to manager of the luncheonette.  In June of 1968, she transferred to the Raleigh Road accounting office where she worked as the main microfilm clerk. Her career was highlighted, and she was honored many times for her out standing attendance and willingness to always get the job done with her work ethic and dedication to being a great asset to the department.  She also served her community by working with the Vance Country Board of Elections during voting times.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at 2:00 p.m., at Sossamon Funeral Home Chapel of Henderson, conducted by the Rev. Frank Sossamon.   Burial will follow in Sunset Gardens.
Surviving is two daughters, Edith F. Nunnery (Glenn), and Jo Ellen Fisher (Holly Waters); one son, Michael Bennett Fisher (Paula); two grandchildren, Matthew Bennett Fisher (Nicole) and Allen Michael Fisher (Katie), and one great grandchild, Abigail Fisher.  Along with her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Patricia Nowell Earp, Shirley Nowell Joyner and Hubert Rancher (Sonny) Nowell Jr.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 1:00-2:00 p.m., at Sossamon Funeral Home.  All the other times, they will be at the home of Mike and Paula Fisher.
