Phyllis Chisenhall Pruitt 82, of Butner, NC, passed away Tuesday, October 8, 2024, at Duke Regional Hospital.

Born in Person County on December 9, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Austin Chisenhall and Ella Ball Chisenhall.

Phyllis was a longtime member of Calvary Baptist Church in Durham and the Friendship Sunday School Class. She grew up in Person County and later moved to Butner and was a longtime resident there. Phyllis retired from General Telephone Company in Durham (currently Verizon) after more than thirty-two years and was later an employee of Duke for ten years. She loved travelling whenever possible, as well as spending time with her family and friends, whether playing cards, Scrabble or just spending time together. Over the years, she enjoyed the company of her three little dogs and said they would always make her laugh.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, October 12, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Sossamon Funeral Home Chapel in Creedmoor. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Gardens.

Survivors include one daughter, Sheila Massey; two grandchildren, Justin Pruitt (Donna), and Bethany Jones (Daniel), five great grandchildren, Parker Jones, Claire Jones, William Jones, Maggie Massey and Caroline Pruitt; as well as other extended family members. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Kenneth Pruitt; one grandson, David Massey and two brothers, Harold Chisenhall and Linzy Chisenhall.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m.
