Obituary

Randall Jay Bennett (70) passed away at his home in Henderson, NC on February 24, 2024. He was the beloved husband of Gina Davis-Bennett in which they shared over 13 years of an amazing marriage together. Randy fought his cancer until the last and with the support of his family and wife was able to spend his last days comfortable at his home.

Randy was born February 24, 1954 in Baltimore City, Maryland. He was the son of Fred Richard Bennett and Jean Allen Bennett. He attended Arapahoe High School; was a member of the two time state football championship team in high school, graduating in 1972.

After high school, he briefly attended Baylor University in Waco, Texas. He attained accounting, computer, and business accounting certifications. He went to work for Martin Marietta, now Lockheed Martin in 1986 in Denver, Colorado. He was a finance operations manager for the defense sector of Lockheed Martin for over 30 years after which he retired from in April 2016.

Randy was a lifelong lover of music; even a musician himself. Randy discovered his talent for wood-working and carpentry after retirement. He loved landscaping and gardening. He was an avid nature enthusiast and bird-watcher. He loved adventures and the road less travelled. He had a talent for ingenuity and invention. Randy was a passionate sports fan, his favorite teams being Duke Blue Devils and Denver Broncos. His interests were limitless.

Randy is survived by his wife, Gina Davis-Bennett, mother Jean Bennett and siblings Jed Bennett and Joy Archibald of Denver Colorado. He was a wonderful father and will be dearly missed by his children and step-children: Brian Richard Bennett (Christine), Bridget Elise Bennett, Eric Chandler Bennett (Sara), Brendan Scott Bennett, Bryan Sparks, Jessie Musgrove (Rick), Tyler Sparks (Rafa). Randy was blessed with six granddaughters (Brianna, Natalie, Mackenzie, Genavieve, Isabella, Skylar) and six grandsons (Riley, Alex, Andy, Cole, Owen, Dayton). Randy is survived as well by his beloved dog, Annie Jo.

His celebration of life ceremony will be held Friday, March 1 at his home.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made in his name to Duke Cancer Research.
