Reba Kay Bass 65, of Henderson, NC, passed away Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill.
Born in Vance County, she was the daughter of the late Carlton Larry Williams and Ann Newton Williams.
Kay was a dedicated employee at Revlon Consumer Products in Oxford, NC for over 40 years. Many of her co-workers, both past and present, describe her as dependable and hard-working. She even earned the nickname "Bulldog" for her tenacious work ethic through the years.
Kay was also an active member of Delrayno Baptist Church in Oxford, NC, where she was involved in many church activities and regularly attended Sunday school, Church services, Wednesday night Bible study and Thursday night Intercessory prayer group. She found immense happiness in attending church, fellowshipping and studying her Bible. Kay's favorite passage of scripture was Matthew Ch. 11 v. 28-30.
One of Kay's greatest joys in life was being a mother. She shared a special bond with her daughter, Alegra and would often call her "the love of her life". You would rarely see one, without the other. They were in every sense, the very best of friends and shared many important milestones in life, walking side by side. In October of 2025, at a Revival in Red Oak, VA both Kay and Alegra re-dedicated their lives to Christ and from there, they chose to grow in their faith together. In January of 2026, they joined Delrayno Baptist Church and in April, both of them had made the decision to take the next step in their spiritual journeys and were baptized together.
Kay thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her daughter, loved ones and friends, chit-chatting about her day, listening to music, going on road trips to new places, hanging out with her dog (Cowboy), eating Lemon flavored Italian Ice and sipping on a cold Diet Pepsi whenever she got the chance. Many who knew Kay, would often describe her as a truly sweet lady, with a good sense of humor. Kay loved to joke around with those she was closest to and her daughter would often call her "a saint of a mom".
A funeral service will be held Saturday, August 8, 2026 at 2:00 pm at Delrayno Baptist Church. Conducted by Rev. Joe Don Cooper. Interment will follow at Sunset Gardens.
Survivors include one daughter, Alegra Bass; one brother, Michael Larry Williams (Nina); as well as many other nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members.
The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm.
