Rebecca L. Overby

Rebecca Lassiter Overby, 86, of Henderson, NC died Monday January 2, 2023 at a local nursing, home surrounded by her family.

Born In Vance County, she was the daughter of the late Joseph W. "Buck" and Estelle Edwards Lassiter. She was the widow of John Bernard "J.B." Overby Sr.

Mrs. Overby was retired from the former Roses Stores Inc., where she served as a Payroll Clerk.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 5, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at Sossamon Funeral Home Chapel in Henderson, conducted by the Rev. Calvin Hedgepeth. Burial will follow in Sunset Gardens.

Surviving is a daughter, Susan Oakley (B.J.), two sons, Johnny Overby (Kay) and Ricky Overby (Teresa); six grandchildren, Tyler Overby, Amber Neal, Alexis Oakley, Christian Oakley, Jonathan Overby and Jennifer Overby; three great-grandchildren, Cash Wayne Overby, Kayleigh Spencer (Amy) and Camden Sommerville; one brother, Tommy Lassiter (Deborah) and several extended family members. Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Helen Franklin, Jennie Sue Daniels and Kathleen Roberson and one brother, J.T. Lassiter.

The family will receive friends Thursday, the hour prior to the service in the Chapel of Sossamon Funeral Home.
