Richard T. Sanford Sr.

Richard Thomas Sanford Sr., 72, of Louisburg, NC died Friday, July 23, 2021, at his home.

Born in Vance County, he was the son of the late Fred Leach Sanford and Maude Faucette Sanford. He was the widower of Patricia Medlin Sanford.

He was a member of Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church, a longtime employee of Harriet and Henderson Yarns Inc., and retired from The Barn Door.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, July 25, 2021, at 3:00 p.m. at Sossamon Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by Rev. Johnny Yount and Rev. Wayne Clark. Burial will follow in Sunset Gardens.

Survivors include four sons, Richard T. "Peanut" Sanford Jr. (Rhonda), Robert M. Sanford (Ginger), Ronnie K. Sanford (Michelle) and Rodney G. Sanford; three sisters, Nell Rose Clark, Sylvia Arnold and Carolyn Denton; two brothers, Freddy Sanford and Gilbert Sanford; sixteen grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. In addition to his wife and his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Randall E. Sanford; one sister, Betty Lou Pegram; and two brothers, Marshall Sanford and Albert Gene Sanford.

The family will receive friends at Sossamon Funeral Home on Sunday from 1:30 – 3:00, at other times they will be at the home.

Serving as active pall bearers will be, Brandon Sanford, Josh Sanford, Dylan Sanford, Cameron Sanford, Nicolas Sanford, Christian Sanford, Richard T. Sanford III and Jesse Sanford.
