Robert Williams Slaughter, 96, of Oxford, NC, passed away on Friday, November 7, 2025 at his home.
Born in Granville County, he was the son of the late Clay Maston Slaughter and Betty Williams Slaughter.
Mr. Slaughter was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church. A farmer at heart, he was happiest nurturing the land and garden he loved. Prior to his retirement as an employee of the State of North Carolina, he was responsible for the care of individuals with special needs at Murdoch Center.
The family extends sincere appreciation to his wonderful neighbors and friends who provided love, support and care to Mr. Slaughter. Special thanks to Duane & Susan Brooks, Larry Hester, Sandy Goss, Brenda Taylor and his neighbor Stephanie.
Surviving are one daughter, Carolyn Slaughter Moseley (Charlie); one daughter-in-law, Cindy Howard Slaughter; two grandchildren, Robert Williams Slaughter, III (Dawn), and Meghan Slaughter Brown (Ward); five great-grandchildren, Robert Williams Slaughter IV, Ella Marie Slaughter, Jake Slaughter, Isaac Slaughter, and Amelia Brown; his faithful dog companion, Tiger; two great-grand dogs, Tater Tot and Lady Lily; and many loved nieces, nephews; and extended family. Alongside his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Isabelle Daniel Slaughter, a son, Robert Williams "Bob" Slaughter, Jr. three brothers, and four sisters.
A graveside funeral service will be held Wednesday, November 12, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Zion Baptist Church cemetery conducted by Rev. Tim Atkinson. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Bob Slaughter Memorial Scholarship, c/o James Sprunt Community College Foundation, 153 James Sprunt Dr. Kenansville, NC 28349.
