Roni Anne Tomarelli passed away peacefully, surrounded by love and family. A dedicated nurse practitioner, retired Norfolk Police Officer, and a woman of profound compassion, Roni held too many letters behind her name to list—but her true mission was always to care for those who needed it most. And her patients loved her for it.

Roni was a woman of faith and an active member in her church as well as a member of the American Legion Post 60 and a Daughter of the American Revolution.

She was a healer, a listener, and a quiet force of strength. But to those who knew her best, Roni's greatest pride and joy was her son, her boy, Christopher. Watching him build a secure and meaningful life—falling in love, proposing with a ring she adored, and growing into the man she always believed he would be—meant everything to her.

Roni found true happiness nearing retirement with her husband, Glenn Collins. Together they embraced the peace of North Carolina country life, enjoying the same pastimes and taking care of each other with a love that was steady and strong.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, April 27, 2025, at 2:00 p.m., at Island Creek Baptist Church. Conducted by the Rev. Johnny Yount. The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall one hour prior to the service from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m.

A memorial service will also be held Saturday, May 10, 2025, at 3:00 p.m., at Altmeyer Funeral Homes and Crematory Southside Chapel in Virginia Beach, Virginia. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m.

In honor of Roni's love for Flamingos, friends and family are encouraged to wear Flamingo related attire.

She was preceded in death by her father, James Thomas Westbrook, and her mother, Nancy Hunt Westbrook. She will be deeply missed by her husband, Glenn, son Christopher, cousins Suzanne Crawley, Nicole Wood-Sabo, and many others whose lives were made better by knowing her.

Roni never asked for recognition—she simply showed up for people. And in doing so, she leaves behind a legacy of care, love, and quiet strength that will never be forgotten.
