Rosa K. Abbott

Rosa Kearney Abbott, 93, of Henderson, NC died Friday, April 15, 2022 at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Vance County, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Henry Kearney and Myrtle Dunn Kearney.  She was the widow of Roy Lyman Abbott.

She was a member of Living Stones Church of God in Granville County.  For more than thirty-five years she taught Sunday School. As her children were growing up, she read her Bible and prayed with them each night before bedtime.  She enjoyed cooking, tending to her flowers, sewing, quilting and loved raising and caring for her chickens.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 19, 2022, at 11:00 a.m., at Living Stones Church of God, conducted by her Family.  Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery in Henderson.

Surviving are two daughters, Nancy A. Jackson and Linda A. Edwards (Mike), four sons, Charles Allen Abbott, Pastor Henry Abbott (Cathy), Bruce Abbott and Pastor Milton Abbott (Jackie); one sister, Susie K. Beal; one brother-in-law, E.G. Collins and one sister in-law, Roxie B. Kearney; fourteen grandchildren, Kevin Abbott (Kelly), Jason Abbott (Jennifer), Marty Jackson (Leigh Ann), Joey Abbott, Brandon Harris (Jamie), Reba Howard (Tito), Curtis Vick (Beth), Wendy Jackson, (and special friend, Michael), Dana Vick, Angie Hamm, Chris Abbott, Jacob Abbott, Hannah Abbott and Leo Abbott; fourteen great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, eleven step-grandchildren and a large number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary K. Satterwhite and Margaret K. Collins and four brothers, J.T. Kearney, David Kearney, Robert Kearney and Alvin Kearney.

The family will receive friends Monday, from 5:30-7:30 p.m., at Sossamon Funeral Home.  All other times, they will be at her home, 543 Abbott Road Henderson, NC.

Serving as pall bearers will be Kevin Abbott, Jason Abbott, Marty Jackson, Joey Abbott, Brandon Harris, Chris Abbott and Jacob Abbott.  Honorary pall bearers will be Payton Abbott, Connor Jackson, Joey Daniel and Leo Abbott.

Flowers are accepted, or memorials may be made to Living Stones Church of God "Mortgage Drive" 6069 Tabbs Creek Road Oxford, NC  27565 or to New Hope Baptist Church P.O. Box 111 Kittrell, NC  27544.

The family wishes to give a special "Thank You" to Margaret Thomas, her home health care giver for her love and care shown to Mrs. Abbott.  Also, "Thanks" to Liberty Hospice, especially Diana Merritt, Tracy Moore and Kiarrah Foster-Barrow.
