Rosalie Ellington, 89, of Creedmoor departed this life September 12, 2023.
Born in Granville County, she was the daughter of the late Herman Coley and Pearl Chappell Coley.
Mrs. Ellington was a member of Living Word Baptist Church. She was the pianist for the church for many
years. Rosalie loved her church. Mrs. Ellington retired from Kenan Oil Company as a bookkeeper for
twenty-six years. She enjoyed gardening, canning and cooking.
Rosalie was married to the late Battle (Doodle) Ellington for fifty-seven years. They had two children,
Robert Ellington (Paula) of Creedmoor and Wanda Ellington O'Briant (Jim) of Roxboro; two sisters, the
late Ruby Goss of Creedmoor, Dealia Covington of Rockingham; one brother, Tillman Coley (Linda) of
Durham; two grandchildren, James L. O'Briant IV and Lindsey Ellington Kapherr (Will) and one great
grandchild, Lane Joseph Kapherr.
A graveside service will be held Thursday, September 14, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at Carolina Memorial
Gardens with Dan Hill officiating. Special thank you for her caregivers: Barbara, Stephanie, Tammy and
Crystal.
