Obituary

Ruby Ethel Adams (née Lee, formerly Perry), 93, of Creedmoor, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 28, 2026.

Born on April 11, 1933, in Johnston County, North Carolina, Ruby was the daughter of Luther and Nancy Lee. At the age of 18, she followed her sisters to New Jersey, where she built a life of hard work and determination. She dedicated 18 years of service to Warner-Lambert before taking early retirement, allowing her to fulfill a lifelong dream of purchasing the home she had always longed for with her husband, Frank C. Adams, in Franklinton, North Carolina.

Ruby's faith was the foundation of her life. A devoted member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, she found not only a place of worship but also a church family she deeply loved. She faithfully served in the choir, prepared meals for church gatherings, greeted visitors with a warm smile, and found great joy in serving her church family. Ruby will be remembered most for the kindness she shared so freely with others. She never forgot a birthday, anniversary, or special occasion, and family and friends cherished the thoughtful cards and words of encouragement she faithfully sent throughout the years. Her generous spirit, unwavering faith, and genuine concern for others left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her.

During the time leading up to and after her passing, countless friends shared stories of her kindness, steadfast faith, generous spirit, and the encouragement she brought to their lives. It was evident that she left a lasting imprint on the church community she loved so dearly.

Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, Luther and Nancy Lee; her husband, Frank C. Adams; her siblings, Nellie, Hubert, Clarence, Chester, Ora, and Alice; and two grandsons.

She is survived by her daughters, Diane N. Bittiger (Ronald) and Barbara J. Lawwill-Lombardi (James); her son, Donald R. Perry; six grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

A celebration of Ruby's life will be held on Saturday, August 8, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, officiated by Reverend David Herman. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Durham, North Carolina. The family will receive friends during a fellowship reception at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church immediately following the burial.

In accordance with Ruby's wishes, memorial donations may be made to Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in lieu of flowers.

The family extends its heartfelt gratitude for the many prayers, expressions of love, and acts of kindness shown during this time of loss.
