Ruth Burwell Williamson, 89, passed away Saturday, May 6, 2023, at her home surrounded by her family.

Born in Granville County on May 8, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Jose ph Thomas Burwell Sr. and Annie Lee Burwell.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 9, 2023, at Mountain Creek Baptist Church at 2:00 p.m. officiated by Pastor Zach Campbell and Pastor Herbert Brown. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Ruth loved her church and was a member of Mountain Creek Baptist Church where she sa ng in the choir for many years . She loved playing cards and was passionate about her card playing family and collecting dolls. She retired from Murdoch Develop mental Center as a Teacher's Aide after more than twenty-five years of service. Ruth was a loving wife , mother, grandmother and great grandmother .

Survivors include three daughters, Debbie Williamson Gray, Wanda Williamson Stainback (John) and Audrey Williamson Pegram (Ala n); two sons, Tommy Williamson (Trudy) and Brian Williamson (Kathy); seven grandchildren, Jason Critcher (Kristen), Jennifer Wood (Neal), Katherine Critcher, Alex Burnette (Selena), Nicholas Burnette (Ashley) , Rebecca Roberson (Thomas) and Keith Williamson (Taylor); eleven great grandchildren and two sisters-in-law, Margaret Burwell and Jean Burwell. She was preceded in death by her husband Sam T. Williamson Sr.; a granddaughter , Michelle Gray Campbell; a son-in-law, Ross Gray, five sisters and four brothers.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, May 9, 2023, from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. at Mountain Creek Baptist Church and other times at her home.
