Samuel Jackson Peoples, 90, of Henderson, passed away Wednesday, September 3, 2025.
Born September 9, 1934, he was the son of the late William Edwin Peoples Sr. and Minnie Pendergrass Peoples.
He attended Aycock High School and retired from Harriett Henderson Yarns. He was devoted to his family and took great pride in the simple pleasures of life. He enjoyed farming, working in his garden, and caring for his lawn, always finding fulfillment in tending the land. His love for his family and his dedication to hard work will be cherished and remembered by all who knew him.
Mr. Peoples was a member of Carey Baptist Church in Henderson, where a funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 6th, at 2:00 p.m. Visitation will be from 1:00–1:45p.m. prior to the service in the church fellowship hall. Burial will follow in Sunset Gardens. Services will be conducted by Rev. Michael Mahan and Rev. Frank Sossamon.
He was preceded in death by his wife of sixty-one years, Ellen Daniel Peoples; his daughter, Linda Faye Peoples; his grandson, Brian Harris; and his brother, Pete Peoples.
He is survived by his daughters, Wanda Peoples of Henderson and Jackie Hanford of Henderson; five grandchildren, Kristen Boyd (Rux) of Henderson, Steven Wayne Harris (Victoria) of Buckingham, Va., Meredith Fordham (Kyle) of Four Oaks, Tim Hanford (Tracey) of Kill Devil Hills, and Joey Hanford of Henderson; and six great-grandchildren, Sam Boyd, Anderson Boyd, Hannah Kate Fordham, Jackson Harris, Langston Boyd and Teghan Harris.The family will be at the home of Jackie Hanford, 107 Westlake Drive, Henderson, N.C. 27536.
Serving as pallbearers will be Rux Boyd, Sam Boyd, Steven Harris, Jackson Harris, Tim Hanford, Joey Hanford, Kyle Fordham, Brad Pegram, and David Vick. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Carey Baptist Church Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 637, Henderson, N.C. 27536.
