Sara Williams McGhee, 85, of Henderson, NC died Friday, September 2, 2022, at her home.

Born in Vance County, she was the daughter of the late Thurston Edwin Williams and Winifred Tucker "Peggy" Williams.  She was the widow of the former Sheriff of Vance County, Frank Thomas "Tommy" McGhee Sr.

Sara retired from the former Maria Parham Hospital, where she was employed for forty years.  She was a member of South Henderson Pentecostal Holiness Church.

Graveside services will be held Tuesday, at 2:00 p.m., at Elmwood Cemetery, conducted by the Rev. Frank Sossamon.

Surviving are one son, Frank Thomas "Tom" McGhee Jr; one granddaughter, Tara Webber (Eric) and one grandson, Evan McGhee.  Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Horace Eugene Williams.

The family will receive friends at her home.
