Sheila Gentry Cates, 66, of Durham passed away Monday, May 5, 2025, at Carver Living Center in Durham.
Born on January 25, 1959, in Durham County, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Reade Gentry and Barbara Ellen Jacobs.
Sheila retired from Central Regional Hospital after twenty-eight years of service and was a member of Stem Methodist Church.
Memorial services will be held Monday, May 12, 2025, at 1:00 p.m., at Stem Methodist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Matthew Cates and Richard Cates; one grandson, Drake Cates; one sister, Belinda Ellis (Vernon) and one nephew, Jamie Ellis. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Johnny Gentry and Steve Gentry.
The family will receive friends at the home of Vernon and Belinda Ellis.
