Shelby Ayscue Allen, 77, of Henderson, NC died Saturday, July 1, 2023, at her home.

Born in Vance County, she was the daughter of the late Bennie Andrew Ayscue and Elizabeth Currin Ayscue.

Mrs. Allen was a member of the Salvation Army Church.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 5, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. in the Sossamon Funeral Home Chapel of Henderson, conducted by the  Rev. Frank Sossamon.  Burial will follow in Sunset Gardens.

Surviving is her husband of fifty-seven years, James Douglas Allen, Sr.; two daughters, Michelle A. Royster and Melinda Allen; two sisters, Martha Hardee and Carolyn Paul; ten grandchildren, Ricky Carroll, Lindsey Carroll, Jackson Royster, Samantha Allen, Thomas Allen, Hannah Allen, Anthony Allen, Kyleth Allen, Alexis Shelton and Brandon Shelton, and three great grandchildren, Drayden Bowes, Mia Allen and Ayden Harp.  Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, James D. Allen Jr. And Anthony P. Allen, one granddaughter, Bethany Allen, one sister, Florence Pendergrass and one brother, Ted Ayscue.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, from 1:00-2:00 p.m., at Sossamon Funeral Home of Henderson.  All other times, they will be at her home.

The family wishes to thank three "Special Care Givers", Melissa Hughes, Tiffany Livengood and Anthony Allen.

Her grandchildren will serve as pall bearers.

Upon Shelby's request, her body will be taken to her home Monday, July 3, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. and will remain there until Wednesday morning at 11:00 a.m.
