Shelia Pegram Davis, 79, of Henderson, NC, passed away Thursday, July 30, 2026, at Maria Parham Health.

She was a member of Crystal River Church of God.

Born in Vance County, she was the daughter of the late Hill W. Pegram and Ellen Murphy Pegram.

A funeral service will be held Sunday, August 2, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Crystal River Church of God. Conducted by Rev. Ray Anderson. Interment will follow at Sunset Gardens.

Survivors include her husband of thirty-nine years, Willie Herbert Davis; one daughter, Frances Lilly (Tommy); two sons, James Gilbert Waddle III (Tonya) and Herbert Hill Davis; five grandchildren, Madison Waddle, Hunter DeMent, Faith Todd (Kris), Hope DeMent and Kelsey Waddle; as well as many other extended family members. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Nancy Murphy; three brothers, Bruce Murphy, Maynard Pegram and Calvin Ray Pegram.

Strong in her Christian faith, Sheila “granny”had a lifelong, never wavering commitment to her family and church. After her grandchildren came along, she became everybody’s “granny”. Every Sunday after church, members would ask, “ what did granny cook today?” as the the family would gather at her home for Sunday afternoon lunch.

Serving as pallbearers will be Hunter DeMent, Tommy Lilly, Tommy Wrenn, Luke Sharon, Kody Matthews and Greg Anderson. Honorary pallbearers will be Kris Todd, Jesse Matthews and John DeMent.

The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. At other times, they will be at the home of Jamie and Tonya Waddle.
