Sidney Wayne Ross, 70, of Creedmoor passed away Tuesday, April 2, 2024, at his home.
Born in Durham County on November 20, 1953, to the late Bryant Thomas Ross and Katherine Turner Ross.
Sid graduated from Southern High School in 1972 and immediately entered the military. He proudly served in the United States Air Force in Explosive Operations and Ballistics. He held numerous jobs from Winn Dixie, Kroger and UPS but his proudest position was owning and operating Carolina Country Store in Creedmoor for fourteen years. Sid was an avid UNC fan and loved attending UNC football games on Saturdays and cheering on his Tarheels. He was a people person and never met a stranger. He enjoyed running on the beach at their house at North Myrtle Beach and he loved his cats. One of his proudest accomplishments was being an author and writing a self-published book. Sid was a true servant of our Lord Jesus Christ. No one knew the bible better than Sidney Wayne and he never hesitated to witness to anyone that crossed his path.
Graveside services will be held Monday, April 8, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Carolina Memorial Gardens. Reverend Johnny Yount will officiate.
Survivors include his wife of twenty-three years, Lynn Page Ross; two sisters, Patricia Ann Shankle (Dan) and his twin sister, Jane R. Jones; two sisters-in-law, Carol Callahan (Jeff) and Mollie Ross; his mother-in-law, Patsy Page and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and friends. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Harvey Ryland Ross and William Bryant Ross.
The family will receive friends Monday, April 8, 2024, from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at Sossamon Funeral Home of Creedmoor.
