Susan Abbott Currin, 60, of Henderson, N.C. died Sunday, November 10, 2024, at her home.
Born in Vance County, she was the daughter of Catherine Riggan Abbott and the late Gary Goodwin Abbott.
Susan was employed with Currin's Real Estate Company and was a member of North Henderson Baptist Church.  Her door was always open to anyone, and her grandchildren were the apple of her eye.  She was a mom to many.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 13, 2024, at 2:00 p.m., at Sossamon Funeral Home Chapel of Henderson, conducted by the Rev. Eddie Nutt.  Burial will follow in Sunset Gardens.
Surviving in addition to her mother are two daughters, Kayla Nicole C. Gray (Christopher) and Kirstin Scott C. Velez (Justin), one son, Gregory Chandler Currin (Andi); four grandchildren, Christopher Kade Gray, Gracelyn Claire Velez, Karter Rome Gray and Layton Scott Velez and many other extended family members.  Also surviving are her four fur babies, Mookie, Drake, Bella and Riley.  Along with her father, she was preceded in death by a sister, Cathy Dawn Abbott and Gregory Scott Currin.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, from 1:00-2:00 p.m., at Sossamon Funeral Home.  All other times, they will be at the home of Catherine Abbott.
Serving as pall bearers will be Justin Velez, Christopher Gray, Lowell Smith, David Vick, Luis Velez, and Tom McGhee.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to North Henderson Baptist Church, 1211 N. Garnett Street Henderson, N.C.  27536 or to the Vance County Animal Shelter, 1243 Brodie Road, Henderson, N.C.  27537.
