Born in Durham County on October 20, 1959, she was the daughter of the late William Thomas Roberts and Mary Ruth Jones.

Susan was married to the love of her life Carlton "Butch" Gooch for forty-seven years and ten months and was a devoted member of Community Methodist Church in Butner. She graduated from Southern High School in Durham in 1978 and worked for Blue Cross Blue Shield for twenty-eight years. Susan was an excellent wife and mother whose love, guidance and devotion were a blessing to her family. She had a special love for animals, especially cats, and found great joy in caring for them. She also loved to read and could often be found reading a good book. Above all, she loved the Lord and carried her faith with her throughout her life.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, September 19, 2026, at Community Methodist Church, 409 W E St., Butner, NC 27509, at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Norma Roberts will officiate.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Gloria Land and one brother William Thomas "Tommy" Roberts Jr.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service beginning at 10:00 a.m. in the sanctuary at Community Methodist Church.
