Thomas C. Stevenson

Thomas Campbell "T.C." Stevenson, Jr., 82, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 13, 2023, at Hock Family Pavilion in Durham, NC.

Born in Vance County, he was the son of the late Nevel Hite and Thomas C. Stevenson, Sr. Tom wa s a graduate of Aycock High School, Louisburg College and East Carolina Teacher's College . He worked fo r the Federal Government as an Accountant in the General Accounting Office until his retirement in 1988 . He and his brother Jerry opened Chex Truck Stop in Henderson in 1979; closing thi s bu siness after nearly 30 years in 2018.

He was a kind-hearted man who often helped others without fanfare . He would alway s give someone a chance at employment, regardless of their background . He worked tireless ly and expected others to do the same. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren, Zack and Katie, grow into fine adults.

Surviving is one son, Jeffrey M. Stevenson (Amanda); grandchildren, Zacha ry T. Stevenson (Crystal) and Caitlin S. Little (Mike); great-grandchildren , Amelia and Cora Little, all of Oxford, NC. He is also survived by one brother, Jerry H. Stevenson (Beth) of Midlothian, VA, and one brother-in-law, Jerry Wynn (Conni e) of Sanford, NC; and numerous nieces, nephews, great -nieces, and great-nephews . Tom is also survived by h is good friend, Ann Skipwith, of Henderson, NC . Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his loving wife, Carolyn Joyce Wynn Stevenson , and their loyal canine companion, Scruff, AKA Miss Boo.

Graveside service will be held Tuesday, May 16, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at F lat Rock United Methodist Church Cemetery, 2560 Satterwhite Point Road, Henderson, NC, conducted by the Rev. Johnny Yount.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, thirty minutes prior to the s ervice at the cemetery.
