Tommy A. Wright
Tommy A. Wright, 78, of Henderson, NC, passed away, Thursday, April 29, 2021. He courageously fought Parkinson's Disease for close to a decade.
Born in Vance County; he was the son of the late Durwood and Jean Reams Wright. Wright was a life-long Baptist, having been a member of churches in both Henderson and Oxford. He was in the grocery business and held management positions with the Great Atlantic and Pacific Tea Company (A&P), Big Star, Food Lion, and Lowes Foods.
He was proceeded in death by his wife Ruby Newton Wright (2007), his sister Jean Purcell, brother David Adcock, and his special friend, Frances Ellington. He is survived by his daughter Lisa Lovings (Danny) of Stovall, son Dr. Jason A. Wright (Nicholas) of Hilton Head Island, SC, three grandchildren, Jennifer Wilder of Garner, Lindsey Barton of Epson, and Ashley Long of Morehead City, two grand-dogs (Adeline and Windsor), eleven great-grandchildren, his sister Brenda (Butch) Clopton of Henderson, and Peggy Falkner of Hopkinsville, KY.
The family will receive friends and family from 10am – 11:00am on Saturday, May 8 , 2021 at Sossamon Funeral Home, 1833 Oxford Rd. in Henderson, NC. A service will immediately follow on the same day at The First Baptist Church of Henderson on 205 W. Winder St. at 12:00 noon. A private interment will be held after the service at South Granville Memorial Gardens in Stem, NC.
