Violet Faye Oakley Hicks, 93, of Oxford, passed away Tuesday, June 18, 2024, with her children by her side.
Born in Person County, she was the daughter of the late Julian Carr Oakley and Ethel Mae Peed Oakley.
Funeral services will be held Friday, June 21, 2024, at 11:00 a.m., at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with Pastor Stan Jenkins officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Survivors include one son, Marshall Watkins Hicks "Marty" (Cindy); one daughter, Wendy Petrie; one grandson, Phillip Hicks (Jane); one sister, Earllean Robertson of Roxboro and one brother, Larry Oakley of Rougemont. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Marshall Watkins Hicks, Sr.; four siblings, Ural Oakley, Dee Oakley, Gloria Lynch and Gerald Oakley.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Michelle Brotman and Leigh Sawtelle for their caring assistance to the entire family.
Pallbearers for the service will be Harvey Ellington Jr., Mike Ellington, David Partin, Mike Brooks, Roger Baird and Allen Winston.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Granville County Animal Shelter.
