Obituary

William Robert Morgan (Bob) died peacefully at his home in Williamsboro on January 24, 2025. Bob was born in the Grassy Creek community in Granville County. He was born on September 20, 1932 to Addie Thelma Wilkinson Morgan and Robert Lee Morgan. The family moved to the farm on Morgan Road in the Williamsboro community of Vance County when Bob was five. Bob attended Townsville High School and was a Sergeant in the US Army.  He married his high school sweetheart, Margaret Matthews in 1956. He retired as the Director of Warehouse Operations from Roses Stores where he worked for 38 years. In addition to his responsibilities at Roses, he managed his family's farm for over 50 years. Managing Coon Creek Farm was one of his greatest loves.
He was a lifelong member of Island Creek Baptist Church, Williamsboro, NC where he served as a Deacon, Chairmen of the Board of Deacons, Sunday School Teacher, Chair of the Search Committee, Chair of the Baptist Men, and numerous other roles. He loved his Church and his Church family. He served as a director of the Flat River Baptist Association, the NC Cattlemen Association, and the NC Forestry Association. He was a member of the Townsville Lions Club, serving in numerous leadership roles. He was a Director of the Townsville Fire Department and a founding director of Kerr Lake School.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 62 years, Margaret, his twin brother Paul Thomas Morgan (Tom), brother James Propus Morgan, and sisters Carol Lee Morgan Byrd and Edna Wilkinson Morgan. He is survived by his sons Robert Wayne Morgan (Anna) of Boca Raton, FL, and Glenn Junius Morgan (Patti) of Santa Fe, New Mexico. Four grandchildren who were his pride and joy Catherine Morgan Jordan (Lawton), William (Will) Robert Morgan II (Virginia), Olivia Morgan Hurst ( Paul), and Abigale Morgan. Three great-grandchildren Margaret Catherine Jordan, Jack Harris Hurst, and Matheson Hall Morgan (Mattie), and his loving caregivers Gary Clark and Steven Lowery.
Funeral services will be at Island Creek Baptist Church at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, with burial in the Church Cemetery. Following the interment, the family will receive guests at the residence at 9639 NC 39 North, Henderson, NC, and at the church fellowship hall.
