William L. Crowder

William Lynwood Crowder, 79, of Stem, NC passed away Sunday, January 1, 2023 at Duke University Hospital.

Born in Mecklenburg County, VA, he was the son of the late William Barrow Crowder and Alice Elizabeth Hutson Crowder. He was the widower of Faye Weary Crowder.

A funeral service will be held Friday, January 6, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at the Sossamon Funeral Home Chapel in Oxford, conducted by the Rev. Jonathan Newton. Interment will follow at Meadowview Memorial Park.

Survivors include one daughter, Cynthia Adcock; six grandchildren, Jessica Matthews (David), Joshua Cooke, Aaron Blue (Heather), Dana Rhodes, Elizabeth Bullock (Sterling) and Abigail Adcock; ten great grandchildren, Joshua, Chloe, Jackson, Etta, Gisele, Brooklynn, Kenzleigh, Alivia, Khloe and Paisleigh; two cousins who were like brothers, Richard Hutson and Norman Crowder; a dear friend, Ann Cooke; and several nieces, nephews and extended family. In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Michelle Henley.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 5, 2023 from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. at Sossamon Funeral Home in Oxford. At other times, the family will receive friends at his home on Tuesday and Wednesday from 1:00 to 6:00 p.m. each night.

Pallbearers will be Joshua Cooke, Aaron Blue, Joshua Miller, Mike Cooke, Ben Adcock and Sterling Bullock.
