William E. Ferrell Sr., 87, of Durham, NC, passed away Friday, October 10, 2025, at his home.

Born in Durham County, he was the son of the late Beuford Vincent Ferrell and Lillie Hicks Ferrell.

Mr. Ferrell attended Tally Ho First Baptist Church. He had his own landscaping and tree service business. He was a workaholic! When he wasn't working, you could find him on his tractor working in his garden, he loved growing vegetables and sharing them with friends and family.
Surviving are two sons William Ferrell Jr. (Espe, and daughter Anadelia) and Freddie Ferrell; two daughters, Cindy Stanley, and Jennie Bowling (Robert); four grandchildren, Tyler Stanley, Morgan Carpenter (Andy), Hannah Bowling, and Weston Bowling; one brother J.A. Ferrell (Susan); his dog, Blackie; and many extended family members. Alongside his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Gertrude Calvin Ferrell, and a son-in-law, Paul Stanley.

A funeral service will be held Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Tally Ho First Baptist conducted by Pastor Mike Craver. Interment will immediately follow the service in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the church an hour prior to the service from 10-10:45 a.m.

Serving as pallbearers will be William Ferrell Jr., Fred Ferrell, Robert Bowling, Tyler Stanley, Mark Tilley, and Matt Ferrell.
