Windle Wayne Cash 91, of Butner, NC, passed away Monday, April 21, 2025, at Hock Family Pavilion.
Born in Chatham County, he was the son of the late Otho Cash and Alma Wilson Cash. He was the widower of Diane Richardson Cash.
Windle loved the Lord and was a longtime member of Community United Methodist Church.
He retired from Murdoch Developmental Center after thirty years of service. He had a passion for all types of music, especially playing the harmonica. This passion led him to founding W.C. Bluegrass Jam that played music for churches, nursing homes, Lake Holt activities and other local events on Friday nights at band members' homes.
He and his late wife have fostered many children over the years; he was a true family man a will be missed by many.
A funeral service will be held Friday, April 25, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. at Sossamon Funeral home Chapel in Creedmoor. Conducted by the Rev. James Shelley. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Gardens.
Survivors include one son, Maurice Wayne Cash; one brother-in-law, Morris Richardson (Cheryl); one sister-in-law, Linda Cash; and many nieces, nephews and other extended family members. In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by one sister, Juanita Bowman; and two brothers, William Cash and Alvis Cash.
Pallbearers will be Chuck Thompson, Mike Thompson, Dale Cash, Brandon Cash, Ricky Stephenson, Keith Ellington, Gerald Carpenter and Dave Winfrey.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. At other times they will be at the home.
