John W. Reavis

John William Reavis, 89, of Hickory, NC, passed away Sunday, December 5, 2021, at Trinity Ridge in Hickory, NC.

Born in Vance County, he was the son of the late George Raymond Reavis Sr., and Madeline Rosebud Hoyle Reavis.

Mr. Reavis was a member of Flat Rock United Methodist Church and a veteran of the United States Air Force. He worked for Roses warehouse for many years and was also employed by Vance County.

Surviving are his wife of fifty-three and a half years, Peggy Anne Ayscue Reavis; one daughter, Tara Reavis Sain (Christopher); two granddaughters, Kamryn Brooke Sain, and Chloe Caroline Sain; five sisters, Anne Creech, Frances Tucker, Jane Wallin, Carolyn Bullock (Lennie), and Rose Power (Doc); one brother Hoyle Reavis (Diane); many nieces and nephews; as well as great nieces and nephews. Alongside his parents, Mr. Reavis was preceded in death by two sisters, Nancy Barker, and Helen Kay Reavis; and four brothers, C.B. Reavis, Harold Reavis, Page Reavis, and George Reavis.

A graveside funeral service will be held Thursday, December 9, 2021, at 2:00 p.m., at Flat Rock United Methodist Church Cemetery, conducted by the Rev. Frank Sossamon. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
