Julius H. Smith
Julius Hayes "J.H." Smith, 89, of Henderson, NC died Friday, June 25, 2021 at a local nursing home.
Born in Franklin County, he was the son of the late Julius Hill Smith and Mary Hayes Smith. He was the widower of Ennis Harris Smith.
J.H. was a retired farmer and was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church. He was a U.S. Army Veteran.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 29, 2021, at 11:00 a.m.at New Bethel Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Ronnie Gilliam and Todd Owens. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Surviving is one daughter, Catherine S. Gray (Jimmy); five grandchildren, Katera G. Smith, Danny Gray, Justin Gray, Rodney Goss, and Kristie G. Hinson; and seven great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Keith Smith, and a brother Hill Smith.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, from 10:00-11:00 at New Bethel Baptist Church. All other times, they will be at the home of Jimmy and Catherine Gray.
Serving as pall bearers will be Larry Williams, Bobby Williams, Kenny Fuller, Henry Davis, Jonathan Renn, Henry Nelms, Rodney Goss, and Conner Smith.
Flowers are accepted, or memorials may be made to New Bethel Baptist Church "Cemetery Fund", 1238 New Bethel Church Road, Henderson, NC 27537.
The family wishes to give a "Special Thank-You" to Tammy Haynes and to the staff at Kerr Lake Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for their love and kindness showed to them during Mr. Smith's sickness.
