William H. Fletcher Jr.
William Henry W.H. Fletcher Jr., 91, of Henderson, NC died Wednesday, December 7, 2016 at a local nursing home.
Born in Vance County, he was the son of the late William Henry Fletcher Sr. and Bessie Ranes Fletcher. He was the widower of Mary Evelyn Nethery Fletcher.
Mr. Fletcher was a retired employee of H.J. Heinz (Perfect Packed Products). A United States Army Veteran of World War II, he served in Company B of the 88th Chemical Mortar Battalion. He was a member of Spring Valley United Methodist Church, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the Disabled American Veterans.
A graveside service will be held Friday, December 9, 2016 at 2:00 p.m., at Flat Rock United Methodist Church Cemetery, conducted by Rev. Johnny Yount.
Surviving are a daughter, Nancy F. Bartholomew (Raymond) of Henderson; a son, Mike W. Fletcher of Henderson; two sisters, Ruth F. Woodlief of Kittrell, and Ferebee F. Pegram of Henderson; two brothers, Charles L. Fletcher of Henderson and James W. Jimmy Fletcher (Barbara) of Oxford; three grandchildren, Tracy B. Matthews (Shane Pulley), Randy Bartholomew (Monique), and Kelly Small; seven great-grandchildren, Lauren E. Matthews, Ashlee Small, Heather Small, Paighton Williams, Madison Bartholomew, Winston Bartholomew, and Mason Pulley; and a sister-in-law, Amy Nethery. He was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Sharon L. Fletcher; a sister-in-law, Mildred A. Fletcher; and four brothers-in-law, Thurston Woodlief, Elmus Pegram, W.L. Buddy Nethery, and J.T. Nethery.
The family will receive friends at 1151 Hedrick Drive, Henderson.
Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to Spring Valley United Methodist Church, c/o Sherry Harrell, 115 Ward Avenue, Oxford, NC 27565.
